Philadelphia, Pa. – (August 29, 2026) – After a heartbreaking five-set loss on Friday, the Fordham volleyball bounced back in a big way on Saturday, picking up a pair of victories over Temple and Manhattan to finish up play at the Cherry & White Invitational in Philadelphia.
MATCH 1 – Fordham 3, Temple 1
- Fordham opened Saturday with a four-set win over host Temple, 25-19, 25-16, 15-25, and 25-12.
- The Rams had a big day at the net with 14 team blocks and holding the Owls to a .035 hitting percentage in the match.Tatum Holderied and Bridget Woodruff led the way with four blocks each.
- Fordham also had a big day on the back row with 66 digs, which included a career-high 31 from Özge Özaslan.
- Johanna Franzen had her second big match of the weekend with a team high 12 kills to go with eight digs, while Holderied notched seven kills.
- Giada Ianuale dished out 25 assists as well to go with two aces and five digs.
- This was Fordham's first win over Temple since 2011.
MATCH 2 – Fordham 3, Manhattan 2
- After falling behind by two sets, the Rams rallied all the way back to defeat the Jaspers in five sets, 18-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-12, and 15-7.
- Fordham used an excellent service game in the comeback effort, recording 13 service aces, which included three each from Addison Newblatt and Özaslan.
- The Rams put down the hammer in the fifth set, recording 10 team kills to only one error for a .563 hitting percentage.
- Holderied had another big game at the net, posting nine kills to go with five blocks.
- Franzen added another 12 kills with Ianuale having 33 assists, five kills, five digs, and two aces.
The Rams are next in action on Tuesday, September 1
st for their home opener against FDU, starting at 6:00 PM.
