Lewisburg, Pa. – Today was Fordham men's soccer head coach
Carlo Acquista's birthday and the Rams celebrated by scoring their first two goals of the year in a 2-0 shutout of Bucknell University at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium.
With the win, Fordham improves to 1-1-1 on the season while Bucknell falls to 0-3-0.
After a scoreless first half, Fordham got on the board early in the second when freshman
Marco Cantalapiedra dribbled to the top of the 18-yard box and got off a blast that beat the Bucknell keeper to the left post.
The Rams made it 2-0 in the 82
nd minute as grad student
Sam Delgado picked up a loose ball, moved it into the box, and fed it to freshman
Marc-Alexandre Happi Emaga who made a move to get it to the center of the box before getting off a shot from ten yards that beat the keeper to the left.
Junior keeper
Shayon Kashi made the two goals hold up, making three saves in notching his first clean sheet of the season.
Notes
• The all-time series between Fordham and Bucknell is now tied, 3-3.
• Bucknell had taken the past two meetings, including a 2-1 overtime win in Lewisburg in 1994.
• All five previous meetings occurred when Fordham was a member of the Patriot League.
• The game was Fordham's third straight on natural grass and the Rams will play four of the first five matches of 2026 on natural grass with the lone artificial surface coming at Villanova.
• Following the opening five games, the Rams will play only two other matches on the real stuff, at Dayton and at Davidson.
What's Next?
• The Rams travel to Villanova, Pa., to take on the Villanova University Wildcats on Tuesday, September 1, at 4:00 p.m. on Emmitt Field at the Higgins Soccer Complex.
• It will be the fourth meeting between the Rams and the Wildcats, the first since 2019.
• Villanova has taken all three of the previous meetings, including a 1-0 win in double overtime in 2019 at Villanova.
