Kingston, R.I. – (May 3, 2026) – The pitching duo of Evan Maloney and Joe Sabbath combined to allow just one run on four hits, as Rhode Island took the Atlantic 10 baseball series finale from Fordham, 5-1, at Bill Beck Field on Sunday
With the loss, Fordham fell to 23-26 on the season, 13-11 in the Atlantic 10, while Rhode Island moved to 20-26 on the year, 13-11 in the league.
THE GAME
- With the game scoreless through the first three innings, Rhode Island scored twice in the fourth inning for a 2-0 lead on a two-run double by Brian Connelly.
- Fordham cut the deficit to 2-1 in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Joey Donnelly.
- URI then struck for two runs in the seventh to go up, 4-1, on an RBI single by Scott Penney and an RBI double by Ryan Thompson.
- The lead extended to 5-1 for the final score in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice bunt by Will Hindle.
GAME NOTES
- Donnelly was 1-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, and an RBI, while Taylor Kirk was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base.
- Aidan Dowd (2-4) pitched well in a loss, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings of work with two strikeouts.
