Kingston, R.I. – (May 2, 2026) – Rhode Island's Aidan Botti delivered the game-deciding blow on Saturday, as he hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to give URI a 6-5 win over the Fordham Rams at Bill Beck Field.
With the win, Fordham fell to 23-25 on the season, 13-10 in the Atlantic 10, while Rhode Island moved to 19-26 on the year, 12-11 in the league.
THE GAME
- Rhode Island opened the scoring in the second inning on a two-run single by Ryan Henschel.
- Fordham responded with single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to take a 3-2 lead.
- Caden Young had an RBI-double in the third with Tommy McAndrews scoring a run on an error in the fourth, while Tommy Markey scored his run on a wild pitch.
- URI rallied for three runs in the sixth, getting a sacrifice fly and a two-run double by Danny Leikus for a 5-3 lead.
- Fordham battled back to tie the game at five in the eighth, netting a pair of runs on bases loaded walks to Madden Ocko and Mason Dean.
- The game, however, would end up in Rhode Island's favor on a solo home run by Aidan Botti in the bottom of the ninth, making it a 6-5 final score.
GAME NOTES
- McAndrews was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while Taylor Kirk was 2-for-4 with a double.
- Markey ended the game with two runs scored and two stolen bases.
- Robbie Stewart (5-4) was hooked with the hard luck loss, allowing one run over 2.1 innings of relief.
- Chase Hanawalt went the first six innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
