Chase Hanawalt Strikes Out 10 for Fordham, while Tommy McAndrews Hits His 14th Home Run

Bronx, N.Y. – (May 14, 2026) – St. Bonaventure's Joey Calabretti hit two home runs on Thursday, including a three-run walk-off home run in the ninth, as the Bonnies took game one of a three-game Atlantic 10 series from the Fordham Rams, 8-5, at Fred Handler Park.
 
THE GAME
  • After St. Bonaventure took the opening lead in the second inning on an RBI double, Fordham answered with three runs in the third inning for a 3-1 lead, as Mason Dean looped a two-run single to right, while Taylor Kirk was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run.
  • The Rams extended the lead to 5-1 in the sixth inning when Tommy McAndrews connected on a 2-run home run to right center, his 14th of the season.
  • St. Bonaventure pulled within two, 5-3, as Joey Calabretti connected on a two-run home run in teh bottom of the sixth.
  • The score remained that way into the bottom of the ninth, where the Bonnies rallied for five runs, including a three-run walk-off home run by Calabretti, for an 8-5 win.
 
GAME NOTES
  • The ninth inning rally spoiled an outstanding pitching effort from Fordham's Chase Hanawalt, who struck out ten batters over seven innings of work in a no-decision.
  • Declan Cawley (2-5) took the loss, allowing four runs over 1.1 innings of relief.
  • Kirk finished 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, a run scored, and an RBI, while McAndrews and Dean each drove in two runs.
