New Rochelle, N.Y. – (April 22, 2026) – Fordham's
Taylor Kirk stole home in the top of the 12
th inning, while
Jordan Rodarte threw three scoreless innings of relief, as the Rams defeated the Iona Gaels, 6-5, in 12 innings at City Park in New Rochelle.
THE GAME
- Fordham opened with a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Madden Ocko, scoring Anthony Grabau from third.
- Iona tied the game at one in the third inning on an RBI-single by Nikolas Mora.
- The Rams went back ahead in the top of the fourth inning, as Matt Dieguez clubbed a three-run home run to center, his first of the season.
- After the Gaels scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to close the gap to 4-3, Joey Donnelly connected on a solo home run to right center in the sixth inning, his ninth of the season, to put the lead at 5-3.
- Iona scored once in the bottom of the sixth to make it, 5-4.
- In the ninth inning, the Rams looked to end the game on a double play, but the throw to first missed the mark, allowing the tying run to score and force extra innings.
- The game reached the 12th inning, where Taylor Kirk put Fordham ahead 6-5, as he reached on a bunt single, moved to second on a passed ball and then stole third and home to score.
- Jordan Rodarte then closed out the win with his third scoreless inning of relief for the Rams.
GAME NOTES
- Rodarte (1-0) earned his first win of the season, allowing two hits over three innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts.
- Donnelly, Tommy McAndrews, and Grabau each had two hits in the contest, while Dieguez was 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBI.
- Robbie Stewart started the game, pitching two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
- This was Fordham's first extra inning game of the season.
