Softball Sweeps Doubleheader From Rhode Island

Olivia Simcoe Tosses Complete Game Win in Game 1; Eva Koratsis Homers Twice in Game Two Victory

Bronx, N.Y. – (April 18, 2026) – The Fordham softball team used strong pitching and the long ball on Saturday afternoon to earn a doubleheader sweep of the Rhode Island Rams by scores of 7-1 and 6-2 at the Bahoshy Softball Complex.
 
GAME 1 – Fordham 7, Rhode Island 1
  • Fordham got the scoring started in the first inning on a two-run double by Nicki Sudall.
  • After the teams exchanged runs, Fordham went ahead 4-1 in the fourth inning as Sudall looped an RBI-single over the pitcher to score Victoria Klimaszewski.
  • The Rams then put the game away in the sixth, as Sadira Forcucci connected on a three-run home run to right, her sixth of the season.
  • Pitcher Olivia Simcoe was fantastic for Fordham, pitching a complete game, two-hitter with six strikeouts to earn her ninth win of the season.
  • Sudall finished the game 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI, while Forcucci was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a home run and three RBI.
 
GAME 2 – Fordham 6, Rhode Island 2
  • In game two, Fordham again got out to the quick lead in the first inning, going up 2-0 on a two-run single by Sudall.
  • Rhode Island knotted the game at two in the third inning, but Fordham quickly answered as Eva Koratsis connected on a solo home run for a 3-2 lead, her fourth home run of the season.
  • After a bases loaded walk increased the Fordham lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning, Koratsis capped the 6-2 win for Fordham with a two-run home run to right field for her first career multi-home run game.
  • Fordham's pitching duo of Holly Beeman and Klimaszewski held Rhode Island to just two runs in the game and combined for six strikeouts, as Beeman earned her third win, while Klimaszewski recorded her first save with three scoreless innings of relief.
  • Koratsis finished 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI with Sudall going 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
 
UP NEXT
  • The two teams are scheduled to finish the series with a single game at noon on Sunday.
