Fordham Falls in Extras at Stony Brook, 3-2 in 9 Innings

STONY BROOK, N.Y.  - It took extra innings to settle the score in a pitcher's duel Wednesday afternoon on Long Island as Fordham University Softball fell 3-2 in a nine-inning battle at Stony Brook Wednesday.

Sydney May came out of the bullpen for Fordham (16-23, 7-8) and took the loss. Elizabeth Gaisior was a bright spot for the Rams, starting the ballgame and throwing six innings, giving up one run on five hits, with one walk and three strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rams got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Neleh Nogay came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fordham and get them on the board.

After the Seawolves rallied to tie the ballgame at one, the game went into extras with the score holding until the Rams retook the lead in the ninth inning. Fordham pushed across a run on Sophie Nesturrick's one-out RBI double, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Rams, who were unable to hold the lead, as Stony Brook scored two times in the bottom half of the ninth to grab the 3-2 win.
