Teaneck, N.J. – (April 14, 2026) – It was a historic day for the Fordham baseball team on Tuesday, as
Anthony Grabau hit for the cycle, while
Taylor Kirk and
Joey Donnelly each scored six runs, setting a Fordham record for runs scored in a game, as the Rams snapped a five-game slide with a 23-17 win over the FDU Knights in New Jersey.
THE GAME
- Fordham opened the game with a 4-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI-double from Tommy McAndrews.
- After RBI-doubles by Anthony Grabau and Mason Dean in the second and third inning respectively, the Rams exploded for five runs in the fourth for an 11-0 lead on a two-run home run by Grabau and a three-run home run by Caden Young.
- FDU scored four times in the bottom of the fourth, but Fordham answered with five more runs in the top of the fifth for a 16-4 lead, as Taylor Kirk hit a two-run home run, while Joey Donnelly connected on a three-run home run.
- The slugfest continued with the Knights, scoring nine straight runs on three home runs, a double, and a single, putting the score at 16-13 through six innings
- Mason Dean hit a two-run home run in the seventh for Fordham, while Diego Urreta (two-run home run) and Jimmy Mantuano (solo home run) hit back-to-back home runs to make it 18-16.
- Fordham would score three times in the eighth and twice in the ninth for a final total of 23 runs on 20 hits in the game and the 23-17 win.
GAME NOTES
- Grabau started the history as he hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and five RBI, becoming the first Ram to hit for the cycle since Luke Stampfl in 2017 (at Long Beach State – 2/25/2017).
- Kirk and Donnelly also made Fordham history, becoming the first Rams to score six runs in a single game.
- Kirk was a single short of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with six runs scored, two doubles, a triple, a home run, and two RBI, while Donnelly was 3-for-4 with six runs scored, a home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI.
- Dean finished 3-for-6 with two doubles, a home run, and three RBI with Young having a home run and three RBI.
- Madden Ocko also had three RBI for the Rams, as Fordham had five players with at least three RBI in the game
- Alec Murray (1-1) was given the win, pitching two scoreless innings of relief, while Declan Cawley recorded the final four outs for his third save of the season.
