Women’s Tennis Blanks Stony Brook on Senior Day

Nevena Kolarevic wins at first singles, first doubles

BRONY, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis team kept its winning streak alive today with a 4-0 win over Stony Brook University on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts on Senior Day.
 
Fordham opened the match taking the doubles point, winning the two completed doubles matches. Sofie Siem and Isabella Aguiar opened doubles with a 6-4 win over Laura Ozola and Mila Charles at third doubles before Nevena Kolarevic and Julianne Nguyen clinched the doubles point by defeating Elena Lobo-Corral and Mia Palladino, 6-2, at first doubles.
 
The Rams then won the first three completed singles matches, all in straight sets, for the win. Paola Dalmonico defeated Mia Palladino at second singles, 7-5, 6-0, and then Valerija Kargina upended Paisha Douglas, 6-3, 7-5, at the third position to give the Rams a 3-0 lead. Kolarevic ended the match for Fordham with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Elena Lobo-Corral at first singles.
