Baseball’s Late Rally Falls Short Against VCU

Fordham Hits Road for Next Four Games

Bronx, N.Y. – (April 12, 2026) – VCU's Jacob Lee hit two home runs and drove in four to lead his team to a 7-6 win over the Fordham Rams at Houlihan Park on Sunday afternoon.
 
THE GAME
  • The scoring started in the fourth inning, when VCU tallied five runs on a two-run single by Dante DeFranco and a three-run home run by Jacob Lee.
  • Fordham picked up single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make it a 5-2 ball game, scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth and an RBI single by Caden Young in the sixth.
  • Lee did more damage at the plate in the seventh with his second home run of the game, this time a solo shot to left.
  • Anthony Grabau picked up an RBI single in the seventh for Fordham, but VCU answered with an RBI-single by Michael Petite in the eighth to make it a 7-3 score.
  • Tim Ford got Fordham back within three with an RBI double in the eighth, while Madden Ocko hit a two-run home run in the ninth to pull Fordham within one at 7-6.
  • The rally though fell short as Zach Peters got Mason Dean to ground out to end the game.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Chase Hanawalt (1-5) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits over 3.2 innings of work, while Declan Cawley (2.1 IP) and Robbie Stewart (2 IP) also allowed two runs each.
  • Ford finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI, while Ocko had the two-run home run.
  • Grabau was also 2-for-4 with an RBI.
