Bronx, N.Y. – (March 8, 2026) – Fordham's
Tommy McAndrews and
Tommy Markey each drove in three runs on Sunday afternoon, as the Rams took home a 16-11 win over Cornell at Houlihan Park.
Fordham is now 4-9 overall, while Cornell moved to 1-9.
THE GAME
- After Cornell opened the scoring with a run in the third inning, Fordham answered with a nine-run outburst in the bottom of the frame for a 9-1 lead. Tommy McAndrews was the big bat of the inning, connecting on an RBI-single at the start of the inning and finishing it with a two-run home run, his third of the season.
- After the teams exchanged runs in the fourth, the Rams put up five more runs in the fifth inning for a 15-2 lead, highlighted by RBI-singles from Joey Donnelly and Tommy Markey.
- The game then turned in the sixth, as Cornell scored nine runs off Fordham relief pitching to get back into the game at 15-11.The rally ended with a grand slam home run by TJ Swidorski.
- Fordham was able to right the ship with a run in the eighth inning on an error, passed ball, and wild pitch for the 16-11 final.
GAME NOTES
- McAndrews finished 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI, while Markey was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored.
- Anthony Grabau and Donnelly also finished with two hits each with Grabau scoring three runs.
- Andrew Kapica (2-1) was credited with the win, posting a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts.
- Aidan Dowd went the first four innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.
- Aric Berg closed out the game with two scoreless innings of relief.
