Koratsis Four-RBI Day Lifts Softball to Split at George Mason

The Rams won game two 9-2, after falling 4-0 in game one

FAIRFAX, Va. - Eva Koratsis racked up four RBIs in game two Saturday Fordham University Softball split the opening day of Atlantic 10 play with a 9-2 win over George Mason, after falling 4-0 in game one earlier in the day.

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED

George Mason opened with two runs in the bottom of the first, and the Rams' Olivia Simcoe would keep the Patriots off the board for the next two plus innings, before the home side added one more in the fourth and a final run in the sixth. Fordham put a pair of runners in scoring position in the second and third inning but were able to bring a run home.

GAME ONE NOTES

» Neleh Nogay and Mikayla Swan led the Rams at the plate, both going 1 for 2.
» Eva Koratsis and Kate McGuire each tallied a hit as well.

HOW GAME TWO HAPPENED

Elizabeth Gaisior (1-3) got the win for Fordham (6-10, 1-1). The left-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits, without allowing a walk, while striking out four.

Koratsis went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in addition to her four RBIs for the Rams. Chloe Trimandilis compiled a standout performance as well, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Nicki Sudall also helped out for Fordham, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.

The Rams got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with three runs in the top of the first inning, all of them coming across on a three-run homer off the bat of Koratsis.

The Patriots then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 3-2 until the Rams expanded their advantage in the sixth. The Fordham offense exploded for six runs, highlighted by a one-run single off the bat of Trimandilis, which brought the Rams lead to 9-2.

Sending six batters to the plate in the frame, Mikayla Swan opened the scoring with an RBI triple, before scoring on the following play. The Rams scored the next two on a walk and hit by pitch before two more came in to score to extend a seven run lead. The score remained 9-2 for the rest of the game, as Fordham coasted to the win.
