Baseball Drops Game Two to Saint Joseph’s

Saint Joseph’s Limits Fordham to One Hit in 3-0 Win

Bronx, N.Y. – (March 28, 2026) – Saint Joseph's Cole Fehrman threw 8 1/3 innings of no-hit ball with 11 strikeouts, as the Hawks took game two of a three-game Atlantic 10 series, 3-0, over the Fordham Rams at Houlihan Park on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the loss, Fordham dropped to 11-14 overall, 4-4 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Joseph's improved to 15-10 on the year, 8-0 in league.
 
THE GAME
  • It was a classic pitcher's duel between Fordham's Chase Hanawalt and Saint Joseph's Cole Fehrman, as the to pitchers kept the game scoreless through six innings.
  • Saint Joseph's broke through with the first run of the game in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Carson Applegate.
  • The Hawks then added to the lead with a two-run single by Joey Pagano to make it a 3-0 game.
  • Fehrman ended up taking a no-hitter into the ninth inning, getting the first out, but a single by Anthony Grabau was able to drop in front of a diving Alex Kelsey in centerfield to break up the no-hit bid.
  • Fordham ended up loading the bases in the ninth, bringing the winning run to the plate with one out, but Saint Joseph's reliever Andrew Gaines struck out both Joey Donnelly and Mason Dean to earn his fourth save of the season.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Hanawalt (1-4) was the hard luck losing pitcher, allowing three runs on six hits over 7.1 innings of work with six strikeouts.
