Bronx, N.Y. – (March 29, 2026) – Fordham's
Mason Dean beat out a potentially inning ending double play in the ninth inning to allow
Tim Ford to score the game-winning run, as the Rams came away with a 7-6 win over the Saint Joseph's Hawks at Houlihan Park on Sunday.
With the win, Fordham moved to 12-14 overall, 5-4 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Joseph's fell to 15-11 on the year, 8-1 in league.
THE GAME
- The game did not get off to a good start for Fordham, as the Hawks scored four times in the top of second inning to take the initial lead.
- The Rams got one of those runs back in the bottom of the frame on a solo home run by Anthony Grabau, off the scoreboard in right center for his fourth of the season.
- Fordham then exploded for a four-run rally in the fourth inning to take a 5-4 lead, highlighted by a two-run double by Joey Donnelly and an RBI-double by Matt Dieguez.
- Saint Joseph's quickly tied the game in the fifth on a solo home run by Blake Primrose, his sixth of the season.
- Fordham's Taylor Kirk then stole the lead back literally at 6-5 in the fifth. He reached base safely on an infield single and went on to steal second, third, and home to score the go-ahead run.
- The game stayed at 6-5 into the ninth inning, when the Hawks loaded the bases and picked up a run on a sacrifice fly to knot the game at six.
- Fordham had the answer in the ninth, as Tim Ford singled, moved to second on a Dieguez single, and scored on potential double play that Mason Dean was able to beat out at first base for the 7-6 victory.
GAME NOTES
- The Fordham bullpen was excellent in relief of starter Aidan Dowd, who lasted just over an inning.
- Declan Cawley allowed one run on two hits over four innings with four strikeouts, while Robbie Stewart threw three scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
- Grabau finished the day 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored, while Dieguez was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
