Softball Takes 2-1 win to Split with Army Wednesday

The Rams took game two after a 7-1 loss in game one

BRONX, N.Y. --Eva Koratsis led the way for the Rams with an RBI and a run scored across the two games Wednesday, as Fordham University Softball took game two over Army, 2-1 to split with the Black Knights after a 7-1 loss in game one.

Fordham takes the season series in the non-league battle 2-1, having won the initial game between the two sides, 3-2, in West Point earlier this month. Koratsis went 1-for-3 in each of the two games, accounting for an RBI in game one and a run scored in game two as well.

GAME 1 | Army 7, Fordham 1

Sophomore Elizabeth Gaisior (2-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Fordham (10-16). Offensively, the Rams were paced by Koratsis, who went 1-for-3 on the day with an RBI.

GAME 2 | Fordham 2, Army 1

Junior Olivia Simcoe (5-8) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Fordham, as the right-hander went four shutout innings while giving up two hits, allowing two walks and striking out two. Senior Holly Beeman also made an impact in the circle for the Rams, starting the ballgame and throwing three innings, giving up one run on no hits, with no walks and one strikeout.

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED

The Rams got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Fordham got an RBI single from Koratsis, scoring senior Neleh Nogay from third base. The Rams were unable to hold the lead, as Army used a strong third inning to pull ahead and grab the 7-1 win.

Senior Neleh Nogay came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fordham, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Rams. The score remained 2-1 for the rest of the game, as Fordham held on for the win.
