Bronx, N.Y. – (March 20, 2026) – Fordham's
Tommy McAndrews and
Anthony Grabau both hit home runs on Friday, while
Beau Elson went six strong innings, as the Rams won their fourth straight contest, 8-4, over the Richmond Spiders at Houlihan Park.
With the win, Fordham evened its record at 10-10 overall, 3-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Richmond fell to 11-11 on the year, 0-4 in the league.
THE GAME
- With the game scoreless through two, Tommy McAndrews opened the scoring for Fordham in the third inning with a two-run home run to center, his sixth of the season. It was his 22nd career home run, which moved him into a tie for tenth all-time at Rose Hill with Mike O'Connell (1974-77).
- The Rams doubled their lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning, courtesy of a two-run single by Taylor Kirk.
- Richmond made it a 4-2 game in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Dylan Winebrenner, his seventh of the year.
- Fordham got a run back in the bottom of the frame, as Madden Ocko served an RBI-single into right field, scoring Anthony Grabau from second.
- The Rams added two runs in the sixth inning on a two-run double by Tommy Markey and a solo home run by Grabau in the seventh inning for an 8-2. For Grabau, it was his third home run of the season.
- The Spiders scored twice in the ninth to cap the scoring with Fordham taking the 8-4 win.
GAME NOTES
- Fordham starting pitcher Beau Elson improved to 3-1 on the year, allowing two runs on seven hits over six innings of work to go with four strikeouts.
- Declan Cawley recorded his second save, as he finished out the final three innings with five strikeouts.
- Ocko finished 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Kirk, Markey, and McAndrews each had two RBI.
- Grabau and Joey Donnelly also added a hit and two runs scored each.
