BRONX, N.Y. --Despite picking up four hits in the rubber game Sunday to out-hitting Dayton, Fordham fell to the Flyers 3-1 after a seventh inning rally by the visitors.
At the plate, the Rams were paced by senior Kate McGuire, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a hit and two walks.
Junior Olivia Simcoe started and took the loss in the circle for Fordham (8-13, 2-4), as the right-hander went 6.2 innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits, allowing two walks and striking out five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams were trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning when they tied the game as senior Neleh Nogay came across to score to get Fordham on the board. Dayton would then score twice in the top of the seventh to take a 3-1 lead, holding off the Rams in the bottom of the frame.
