Baseball’s Big Innings Lead to 26-3 Win Over Davidson

Rams Score Six in the Fifth & 15 in the Ninth for Series Win

Davidson, N.C. – (March 15, 2026) – It was a soothsayer that told Julius Caesar, "Beware the Ides of March" in William Shakespeare's classic Julius Caesar.On Sunday, the role of Caesar was played by the Davidson Wildcats, as the Fordham Rams racked up 26 runs on 20 hits to close out an Atlantic 10 baseball series win, 26-3, at Wilson Field.
 
Fordham improved to 8-10 overall, 2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Davidson fell to 9-9 and 1-2 in the league.
 
THE GAME
  • Fordham started the game with a bang, as Tommy McAndrews crushed a two-run home run to left center for his fifth home run of the year and a 2-0 lead.
  • After Davidson tied the game at two in the fourth inning, Fordham rallied for six runs in the fifth for an 8-2 lead, which was highlighted by a three-run double by Jack Rubin.
  • The Rams tacked on three more runs in the seventh to go up 11-1 with Rubin and Ernie Little each having an RBI-single in the inning.
  • Leading 11-3 in the ninth, the Rams put together one of their best scoring innings in team history, netting 15 runs to finish out the 26-3 win.
  • Fordham sent 21 batters to the plate in the frame, highlighted by a grand slam home run by Madden Ocko and two-run singles by both Rubin and Little.
GAME NOTES
  • Robbie Stewart (2-0) was the beneficiary of the offensive output, earning his second win of the week, giving up just one run over four innings of relief with five strikeouts.
  • Rubin finished 3-for-7 with a double and six RBI, becoming the first Fordham freshman to have six RBI in a game since Jake MacKenzie in 2018 (vs. Saint Peter's – 3/29/2018).
  • Ocko was also 3-for-7 with two runs scored, a grand slam home run, and a career-high five RBI.
  • Taylor Kirk ended up 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, and four RBI with Little going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI.
  • McAndrews was 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI, moving him into a tie with Jerry Curley for 11th on the Rams' all-time home runs list with 21.
  • Joey Donnelly was also 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two walks
  • Caden Young went 2-for-2 as well with two runs scored and two RBI, all of which happened in the ninth inning.
  • The 15-run inning was Fordham's highest scoring inning since 1997, when the Rams scored 17 in an inning against Fairleigh Dickinson (4/29/1997).
  • The 25 total RBI in the game for Fordham were the most as a member of the Atlantic 10 (since 1996).
  • The 26 runs were the most by the Rams since scoring 29 against Saint Peter's in 2018 (4/4/2018).
UP NEXT
  • The Rams now begin a nine-game homestand, starting on Wednesday, March 18th, against Marist.  That gametime has been changed to a 2:00 PM start.
