Piscataway, N.J. – (March 11, 2026) –
Jack Rubin's RBI-single broke up a 7-7 tie, while the Fordham bullpen closed out the game with four scoreless innings, as the Fordham Rams came back to defeat the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 8-7, at Bainton Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Fordham has now won four of its last five games to move to 6-9 overall, while Rutgers fell to 9-7.
THE GAME
- The Rams started the game with a bang, scoring three times in the first inning on an RBI-single by Tommy McAndrews and a two-run double from Madden Ocko.
- Rutgers answered with two in the bottom of the first, picking up runs on a ground out and a double.
- Fordham extended the lead back to two at 4-2 in the third inning, as Ocko walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by Tim Ford.
- Mason Dean added to the Fordham lead in the fourth inning with an RBI-single, scoring Jack Rubin from second, making it 5-2.
- Rutgers then grabbed their first lead of the game at 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring four unearned runs off two Fordham errors.
- The Scarlet Knights picked up another run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning for a 7-5 advantage.
- The seesaw affair continued with Fordham regaining the lead in the top of the seventh inning with a three-run rally, capped by an RBI-single by Jack Rubin.
- The Fordham bullpen trio of Will Vieira, Andrew Kapica, and Aric Berg followed with three scoreless innings of relief to close out the win.
GAME NOTES
- Dean finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI to head up the Fordham offense, while McAndrews was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
- Ocko and Ford each drove in two runs.
- Aidan Dowd (1-2) earned the win in relief with a scoreless sixth inning with Berg recording his third save of the year after striking out the side in the ninth.
- The win was Fordham's first over a BIG TEN team since 2013 (Michigan – 2/23/2013).
