Softball Outlasted Against No. 15 Georgia, Missouri State

ATHENS, Ga. - The bats came alive in the latter portion of the day Saturday, but Fordham University Softball was outlasted in a pair of games against No. 15 Georgia, 5-1, and Missouri State, 10-6.

Neleh Nogay went 2-for-4 with a double in game one, while Eva Koratsis' two extra base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-4 day in game two, and included two doubles and an RBI.

Freshman Sadira Forcucci compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and an RBI against Missouri State. Senior Kate McGuire also chipped in for the Rams, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.

HOW GAME ONE HAPPENED

The Rams got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Fordham got an RBI single from freshman Sadira Forcucci, scoring junior Mikayla Swan from second base. The Rams were unable to hold the lead, as Georgia scored five times over the remaining four innings to grab the 5-1 win.

Missouri State built their lead to 10-4 before the Fordham offense got going, reducing that lead to 10-6 in the seventh. The Rams recorded two runs off of Missouri State pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double from Forcucci. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
