Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Stetson

Rams Rally for 7-6 Win in Game Two

Deland, Fla. – (February 28, 2026) – After being washed out on Friday, the Fordham baseball team split a doubleheader at Stetson's Melching Field, falling in game one to the Hatters, 13-7, while coming back to win game two, 7-6.
 
With the split, Fordham is now 2-7 on the season, while Stetson moved to 4-7.
 
GAME 1 – Stetson 13, Fordham 7
  • Stetson led by a 7-0 score by the fifth inning, highlighted by a grand slam home run by Jayden Hylton in the fifth inning.
  • Fordham got on the board in the sixth on a solo home run by Anthony Grabau, his second of the season.
  • Hylton then capped a career day with a two-run double in the sixth and a two-run home run in the eighth, posting a career-high eight RBI.
  • The Rams would score in each of the final three innings of the game with three runs in the seventh, one in the eighth, and two in the ninth.
  • Grabau finished 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI to lead the Fordham offense.
  • Beau Elson (1-1) took the loss, allowing five earned runs over five innings with four strikeouts.
 
GAME 2 – Fordham 7, Stetson 6
  • Fordham opened the scoring in the first with two runs on a passed ball and a Grabau sacrifice fly.
  • After Stetson tied the game in the bottom of the first inning, the Rams regained the lead in the fifth on a two-run single by Grabau.
  • The Hatters answered with a four-run bottom of the fifth inning to grab a 6-4 edge.
  • Fordham though would have the last rally of the game, scoring three times on two Stetson errors in the eighth inning for a 7-6 lead.
  • Andrew Kapica and Aric Berg then locked down the win with the final six outs of the game.Kapica (1-1) earned his first collegiate win, allowing just one hit over three innings of relief with four strikeouts, while Berg recorded his second save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning.
  • Chase Hanawalt made the start for Fordham, going five innings with five strikeouts.
  • Grabau once again was the top bat, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI.

  • The two teams wrap up their three-game series with a noon game on Sunday.
