Fordham Falls to Davidson, 58-49

BRONX, NY --The Fordham women's basketball team went into the half beating Davidson 29-28, but could not hang on in the second half and fell 58-49 to the Wildcats at home Wednesday.

The Rams (10-18, 2-15) had two players score in double figures, led by Carryn Easley, who had 11 points and three steals. Ornella Niankan tacked on 10 points, two steals and two blocks off the bench and Emma Wilson-Saltos added five points, six rebounds and two steals.

Led by Wilson-Saltos' four offensive rebounds, Fordham did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards that resulted in nine second chance points.

The Fordham defense caused its share of mistakes in Wednesday's game, forcing 22 Davidson turnovers while committing 20. Those takeaways turned into 10 points on the offensive end of the floor. Easley's three steals led the way individually for the Rams.

Davidson countered and stretched its lead to 42-39 heading into the fourth. Fordham played well near the basket, scoring six of its 10 points in the paint.

Davidson kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 47-41 advantage before Fordham went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Easley's layup, to shrink the deficit to 47-46 with 5:15 to go in the contest.
