Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis team completed a perfect weekend on Saturday with a 5-2 win over Siena College at the Cary Leeds Center.
The match opened with the Saints taking the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches.
Dhillon Virdee-Oakley and
Diego Cueto defeated Mars Argun and Emilio Zavala Salinas at first doubles, 7-6(5), and
Dhananjay Athreya and
Filip Horak fought Siena's Sviatoslav Koliadynskyi and Matteo Castellazzi at the second position before falling, 7-5.
For the second straight match the Rams won the contest by winning the singles competition.
Mateusz Gradzki got things started for the Rams with a 6-, 6-2 win over Mateja Stefanovic and Horak made it 2-1 Fordham when he defeated Argun (SIE) 7-6(3), 6-0, at third singles.
After the Rams fell at second singles,
Will Lokier helped Fordham regain the lead with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Castellazzi at the fourth position. Athreya then clinched the match for Fordham with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Bruno Loch Varella at fifth singles before Cueto took sixth singles from Zavala Salinas, 6-3, 7-6(3).
