Rayane Tchemmounn was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, it was announced today. It is the first weekly award for the Montreal, Quebec, native.
In the regular season finale, a 5-1 win for the Rams over Saint Joseph's at Moglia Stadium, Tchemmounn had a hand in four of the five Fordham goals. He scored twice and assisted on two others. Tchemmounn started the scoring spree with his third of the season in the ninth minute to give the Rams an early 1-0 lead.
Tchemmounn picked up his second goal of the game in the 52
nd minute to boost the Fordham lead to 3-1 and then assisted on the final two Ram goals.
The Rams, seeded sixth, open the Atlantic 10 Championship with a quarterfinal match at third-seeded George Mason University on Friday, November 6, at 3:00 p.m.
