Big games from Edwards, Easley not enough in Fordham's 58-47 loss to George Washington

WASHINGTON - Lakresha Edwards and Carryn Easley combined to score 29 total points - 61.7 percent of Fordham's points - but the Rams fell to the George Washington Revolutionaries 58-47 on the road Saturday.

Edwards led the Rams (9-11, 1-8) with 18 points and two steals. Easley tacked on 11 points and Precious Omoshola chipped in as well with six points and seven rebounds from the bench.

Fordham out-rebounded George Washington 41-34 in Saturday's game, paced by Omoshola's seven boards. The Rams also collected 13 offensive rebounds and scored eight second chance points.

Fordham forced 13 George Washington turnovers. The Rams turned those takeaways into 11 points on the offensive end of the floor. London Liley led the way individually with two steals.

How It Happened

After falling behind 4-0, Fordham went on a 6-0 run with 7:20 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Edwards, to take a 6-4 lead. The Rams then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 12-8.

The Rams continued to battle with the Revs in the second quarter and faced a 28-22 halftime deficit.

Opening the second half strong, Fordham went on a 7-0 run to trim its deficit to 30-29 with 7:32 to go in the third. George Washington countered and stretched its lead to 40-33 heading into the fourth. Fordham played well near the basket, scoring six of its 11 points in the paint.

Fordham could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 58-47. Fordham fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 14 points.
