Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad opened its spring slate with a 6-1 win over Drexel University at the Cary Leeds Center.
Fordham opened the match taking the doubles point as the Rams won two of the three matches. Fordham's
Nevena Kolarevic and
Julianne Nguyen defeated Anastasia Kavounov and Rebecca Fielder at first doubles, 6-0, and then
Sofie Siem and
Isabella Aguiar took third doubles from Olivia Chowgule and Bia Ibrahim, 6-1, to clinch the point for the Rams.
The Rams then won the match by taking five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets. Julianne Kolarevic won at first singles over Lorie Lemongo, 6-2, 7-5,
Valerija Kargina picked up a point for Fordham at third singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Adva Dabah.
Lily Chitambar was victorious over Sofiya Snitko at the fourth position, 6-4, 6-3, while
Aya Matsunaga defeated Rebecca Fielder at fifth singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1), and
Catalina Padilla won at sixth singles over Bia Ibrahim, 6-3, 6-1.
