DAVIDSON, NC --The Fordham women's basketball team got a 24-point showing from the bench, but fell 74-50 to the Davidson Wildcats on the road Wednesday.
The Rams (8-9, 0-6) had three players score in double figures, led by Tia Morgan, who had 12 points. Emma Wilson-Saltos tacked on 10 points and seven rebounds and Lakresha Edwards chipped in as well with 10 points.
Fordham forced 15 Davidson turnovers. The Rams turned those takeaways into 13 points on the other end of the floor. London Liley led the way individually with three steals.
How It Happened
After playing to a 4-4 tie early in the game, Fordham went on a 5-0 run with 7:09 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Morgan, to take a 9-4 lead. The Rams then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 20-18.
Davidson kept adding to that lead, building a 29-23 advantage before Fordham went on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Kaila Berry, to narrow its deficit to 29-28. Davidson responded and expanded its lead, leaving the Rams trailing 38-28 heading into halftime.
Fordham's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Rams faced a 57-37 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Fordham played well near the basket, scoring six of its nine points in the paint.
Fordham could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 74-50. Fordham took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 10 of its 13 points in the paint.
