BRONX, NY --The Fordham University volleyball team racked up 14 blocks en route to a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-15, 25-12) against Central Connecticut State Saturday at the Rose Hill Gym.
The final non-conference victory of the regular season sees the Rams improve to 6-4 on the season, heading into the start of Atlantic 10 play next weekend. The Rams as a team posted 14.0 total blocks, the seventh match in a row with 10 or more blocks, and eighth time this season, and continuing to sit as one of the top blocking teams in the nation.
Erynn Sweeney finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Rams offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .435, while the Maroon and White also got 12 digs from Whitney Woodrow, along with eight blocks from Audrey Brown and six rejections from Tatum Holderied to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Rams took control of the set-one lead at 4-3 and never trailed to win 25-14. Fordham led by 13 points at 23-10 before finishing off the set. Fordham also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set and got a standout defensive performance from a front row that blocked eight CCSUÂ attacks in the stanza.
SET 2 | Fordham took the second set 25-15 to swiftly jump to a 2-0 lead. The Rams never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that had just one lead change before Fordham took over the lead for good.
SET 3 | Fordham then finished off the match with a victory in set number three. The Rams took control of the set early when the score was 3-2 and never looked back to win 25-12. Fordham ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 13 points, to finish off the set. The Fordham offense also got a boost from three aces in the frame, while the front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Blue Devils' attacks in the stanza.
