Harrisonburg, Va. – The Fordham men's soccer squad opened its 2025 season on a positive note, defeating James Madison University, 1-0, on Thursday at the Fairfield by Marriott Invitational at Sentara Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Bennett Leitner accounted for the game's lone goal as he took a pass from
Daniel D'Ippolito and got it past James Madison keeper Joshua Moya in the 26
th minute.
• Graduate student keeper
Ryan Foley recorded the clean sheet for the Rams, making a pair of saves.
• Fordham out shot James Madison, 14-10
GAME NOTES
• The goal was Leitner's fourth career tally.
• Foley made his first career start for the Rams, fourth overall, and notched his second career shutout.
• The Rams and Dukes have now met twice with each team winning once.
• This is Fordham's second appearance at the Fairfield by Marriott Invitational (first was in 2017).
• In 2013, Fordham fell to James Madison, 2-1, in overtime before defeating Virginia Tech, by the same score at the Invitational.
