Harrisonburg, Va. – The Fordham men's soccer squad had to fight the Dragons and the weather on Sunday as the Rams closed out play at the Fairfield by Marriott Invitational with a 1-1 tie with Drexel in a game that was shortened to 75 minutes due to lightning at Sentara Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Dragons got on the board first, scoring the game's first goal in the 18
th minute
• The Rams knotted the game at one less than a minute into the second half as
Daniel D'Ippolito took a pass from
Daniel Lang and beat Drexel keeper Raphael Bartell .
• Graduate student keeper
Ryan Foley made four saves in net for the Rams.
• Drexel outshot Fordham, 10-7.
GAME NOTES
• The goal was D'Ippolito's first of the year and the 20
th of his career.
• Foley made his second straight start in net for the Rams.
• The Rams and Dragons have now met twice with Drexel leading the series, 1-0-1.
• This is Fordham's second appearance at the Fairfield by Marriott Invitational (first was in 2017).
WHAT'S NEXT?
• The Rams travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to face the Colgate University Raiders on Saturday, August 30, at 4:00 p.m.
