Roor Akhuar Signs With Fordham

18-year-old is latest Australian commit for Head Coach Mike Magpayo

BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Magpayo has received another international commitment for his 2025-26 roster, as Roor Akhuar has signed on with the Rams for the upcoming season.

Akhuar comes to Rose Hill from Basketball Australia's Center of Excellence, the same program as future Fordham teammate Abass Bodija.  As of June 2, Akhuar is the third Australian and sixth international commit for the Rams ahead of the 2025-26 season.

"Roor comes from the famed Center of Excellence in Australia, which produces some of the best coached and most skilled basketball players in the region," said Magpayo. "Roor has great positional size for a wing, elite athleticism, and big time shot making ability. Most importantly, Roor is a high character young man who the Fordham Community will  love."

The 18-year-old Akuar suited up for Australia in the 2024 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup, averaging 6.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the "Crocs."

The 6-foot-7 forward played eight games for Centre of Excellence this season in NBL One, averaging 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds in just over 16 minutes per contest.
