Jack Whitbourn Signs With Fordham

Australian international played his freshman season at UC Riverside

BRONX, N.Y.  – Fordham Men's Basketball Head Coach Mike Magpayo has announced the addition of another former player from UC Riverside, as Jack Whitbourn will follow his coach to the Bronx following a promising freshman season.

"Jack is an emerging 6'11" big man from Australia who has represented his country on numerous occasions," said Magpayo.  "He has the skill, and most importantly the attitude that will thrive in our program. He was fantastic in his first year in our program and we believe he is just touching the surface of what he will become. Look out for a big year from Jack, as his elite work ethic gives him a chance to succeed immediately here in the A-10."

Whitbourn played in all 34 of UC Riverside's game this season, helping the Highlanders win 21 games and reach the NIT for the first time in program history.  The Melbourne, Australia, native averaged 3.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in just 13.3 minutes of action per appearance.

He recorded two double-doubles, posting 12 points and 13 rebounds in his third collegiate game at Cal Baptist on Nov. 12 before logging 10 points and 10 boards at Cal State Fullerton on March 8.

In total, Whitbourn reached double figures on three occasions, scoring 11 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting performance in an overtime win against UC Irvine on Jan. 23.

On Nov. 14 against La Sierra, Whitbourn pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards, in just 21 minutes of action.

On the season, Whitbourn shot 47.1% from the floor and made 33.3% of his attempts from beyond the arc.

Prior to arriving at UC Riverside, Whitbourn averaged 8.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in 14 games for the Melbourne Tigers of NBL1 in Australia's second division.

Whitbourn also boasts experience on the international circuit, averaging 11.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per game at the 2023 FIBA U17 Oceana Championship and leading "The Crocs" to gold.  The following year he suited up again for Australia at the 2024 FIBA U18 Asia Cup, averaging 7.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, again leading the Aussies to a gold medal.
