Baseball Drops A-10 Championship Opener to Saint Louis

Tommy Markey & Taylor Kirk Drive In Runs for Fordham

Tysons, Va. – (May 20, 2025) – Saint Louis' Josh Cunningham tossed six scoreless innings with six strikeouts, while Brenden Stressler drove in four runs, as the third-seeded Billikens topped the sixth-seeded Fordham Rams, 10-2, in the opening round of the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship at Capital One Park in Tysons, Virginia.
 
Saint Louis opened with a 3-0 lead in the first inning.  Brenden Stressler recorded an RBI-single, while Max McGwire hit a two-run home run to left center, his seventh of the season.
 
The Billikens added four runs to their lead in the second, highlighted by a two-run double by Riley Iffrig and a two-run home run by Stressler, his 12th of the season.
 
Saint Louis added runs in the fourth and sixth innings to make it a 9-0 score before Fordham got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh.  Madden Ocko and Tommy McAndrews reached base on back-to-back singles, which was followed by an RBI-double down the left field line by Tommy Markey.
 
Each team added a single run in the final frames for the 10-2. Austin Neuweg recorded an RBI-double in the eighth for Saint Louis with Taylor Kirk having an RBI-double in the ninth inning.
 
For Fordham, Kirk finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI, while Markey was 1-for-3 with an RBI-double and a walk.
 
The Rams will now be in the first elimination game of the Atlantic 10 Championship on Wednesday, May 21st, against seventh-seeded Dayton at 7:00 PM.
