Box Score Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches on Friday with a 5-2 victory over Wagner College on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
 
"This was a solid win against a good Wagner team," said head coach David Slater. "The freshmen continue to improve with all three winning their singles matches for us today. It's great preparation as we head into our first matches against Atlantic 10 opponents next week."
 
Fordham opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches. Nicolas Garnier and Will Lokier started things off with a 6-3 win at third doubles over Wagner's Damian Janiszewski and Joshua Zhou before Phillip Uhde and Filip Horak clinched the doubles point for the Rams with a 6-4 decision over Pablo Rodriguez and Gabriele Zugarelli at the second position. Dhillon Virdee-Oakley and Dhananjay Athreya made it a clean sweep for Fordham but had to go to a tiebreaker, defeating Carlos Rodriguez and Eddie Schmidt, 7-6(4).
 
Horak and Lokier made it 3-0 for the Rams with straight set wins to start singles play. Horak defeated Schmidt, 6-1, 6-1,at second singles while Lokier took care of Janiszewski at the fourth spot, 6-2, 7-5. Andro Barrientos then clinched the match for Fordham with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Wagner's Vibhu Challagundia at sixth singles.
 
Virdee-Oakley accounted for the Rams' other point with a 7-5, 5-7, 10-7 win over Carlos Rodriguez at first singles.
