Softball Falls in Opener at Dayton; Play Suspended in Game Two

The Rams and Flyers will pickup in the fourth inning of game two Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

DAYTON, Ohio. – Continuing a hot stretch over the last week, Sydney Wells launched her 11th and 12th homers of the year Friday, tallying four RBIs as Fordham University Softball fell to Dayton in the opening game of a three-game series, 10-5.

The Rams and Flyers played the first three innings of game two Friday as well before suspending the contest with Dayton leading 3-1 entering the top of the fourth. Play will resume tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. followed by the conclusion of game three 30 minutes after game two ends.

Tacking on six runs in the first inning of game one the home side pulled out in front with another four runs in the second. Staying resilient the Rams would not allow a run the rest of the way, with Victoria Klimaszewski tossing the final 4.2 innings for the visitors, allowing just a single earned run in that second inning.

Fordham used a sac fly from Neleh Nogay and the first of two, two-run home runs by Wells in the third to put themselves on the board, and saw Wells leave the yard again in the sixth with another two-run shot to left center to set the final tally.

Game two saw Wells pick up where she left off, adding another RBI with a single in the first inning to put the Rams in front. Dayton pulled ahead with a home run in the second and third inning, taking a 3-1 lead through three innings.

The game resumes tomorrow with the Rams' 5-6-7 batters up to begin the top of the fourth.
