Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad sent its lone senior off on a positive note as the Rams extended their winning streak to six matches with a 4-0 shutout of Long Island University on Senior Day on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
Fordham opened the match winning the doubles point, taking both completed doubles matches.
Nevena Kolarevic and
Julianne Nguyen won at first doubles over LIU's Lucia Garrigues and Mia Tsoukalas (LIU) 6-1, while
Lorraine Bergmann, the lone senior on the squad, and
Lily Chitambar upended Isadora Muller and Ksenia Reznitskaya at second doubles, 6-1.
The Rams then won the first three completed singles matches, all in straight sets, for the 4-0 win.
Paola Ueno Dalmonico picked up the first singles win for the Rams with a 6-3, 6-0, win over Paula Gullien Cerver at fifth singles before
Catalina Padilla Udaeta put Fordham up 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jenna Svatos at the sixth position. Kolarevic clinched the match for Fordham when she defeated Lucia Garrigues at first singles, 6-2, 6-1.
