Men’s Tennis Falls to Richmond, 4-1

Rams close out home season on Wednesday vs. Sacred Heart

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's tennis team had its four match winning streak snapped today, falling to the University of Richmond, 4-1, on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.

Fordham opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. Will Lokier and Nicolas Garnier started things off with a 6-2 win at third doubles over Richmond's Dylan Atkinson and Otto Sewell but the Spiders took second doubles which meant the doubles point would come down to first doubles where Dhananjay Athreya and Dhillon Virdee-Oakley won the point for the Rams with a 6-4 win over Davis Wiley and Cole Brashear.

The Fordham singles lineup included four true freshmen who fought in their matches but in the end it was experience that won out as Richmond won the first four completed singles matches for the 4-1 victory.
