Bronx, N.Y. – (March 4, 2025) – Stony Brook hit five home runs and allowed just two runs on the mound, as the Seawolves defeated the Fordham Rams, 14-2, at Houlihan Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The game was scoreless into the third inning, when Evan Goforth hit a solo home run to left center for a 1-0 Stony Brook lead. The Seawolves then made it, 4-0, in the fourth inning as Chanz Doughty hit a solo home run, while Luke Szepek hit a two-run home run.
Fordham answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Madden Ocko doubled to left with two outs and scored on a single by
Matt Dieguez, making it, 4-1.
The score remained that way until the final three innings, where Stony Brook scored twice in the seventh and four times in the eighth and ninth innings. The scoring was highlighted by a two-run home run by Scott Gell and Szepek's second home run of the game.
The Rams scratched a run across in the ninth on an RBI-single by
Andrew Kanellis, scoring Dieguez, who reached on a ground rule double.
Jordan Rodarte (0-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits over 3.1 innings.
Connor Haywood also pitched 3.1 innings in the game, giving up only one run on two hits. At the plate, Dieguez was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Kanellis was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Ocko was also 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Fordham will next be in action on Friday, March 7
th, as the Rams begin a three-game series with Army West Point at Houlihan Park, beginning at 3:00 PM.
