Orlando, Fla. – The Fordham University men's tennis team continued its Spring Break schedule on Wednesday with a 4-3 loss to Lewis University at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.
Lewis opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. The Flyers took first double before
Nicolas Garnier and
Will Lokier evened things for the Rams with a 6-4 win over Grant Miller and Santiago Carabajal at third doubles. The doubles point then came down to the second position where
Filip Horak and
Phillip Uhde brought Gabriel Haro Cuenca and Sarvar Azamatov to a tiebreaker before falling, 7-6 (7-5).
The Flyers then won the match by taking three of the six singles matches. Fordham's three points came from win sat first, second, and fifth singles. Horak defeated Indrek Soome at first singles, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, while Lokier (FORM) upended Roberto Leal at the second position in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Jeremy Victoria picked up the other point for the Rams, defeating Santiago Carabajal (LEWISM) 6-2, 6-2, at fifth singles.
