Fairfax, Va. – The Fordham women's tennis squad opened its trip to the Washington, D.C., area with a 4-0 win over George Mason University at the Burke Racquet and Swim Club on Saturday.
Fordham opened the match taking the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches. Fordham's
Julianne Nguyen and
Nevena Kolarevic won at first doubles over Cenan Liu and Lauren Splett, 6-2, while
Catalina Padilla Udaeta and
Paola Ueno Dalmonico upended George Mason's Mary Young and Brooklyn Siegel, 7-6 (1).
Aya Matsunaga and
Sofie Siem made it a clean sweep for the Rams with a 6-0 win at third doubles over Maya Bayat and Lakshya Motam.
The Rams then won the match by taking all three completed singles matches, all in straight sets. Kolarevic defeated Liu at first singles, 6-4, 6-0;
Lorraine Bergmann took third singles from Maitree Diksha Rout, 6-4, 6-2; and
Catalina Padilla Udaeta was victorious at the sixth spot over Siegel, 6-3, 6-2.
