Newark, N.J. – The Fordham University men's tennis team played its second match of the spring, traveling to NJIT where the Rams were shutout by the Highlanders, 7-0.
Fordham opened the match by dropping the doubles point, losing all three doubles match.
NJIT then took the match, winning all six singles matches. Three of the six went to a third set.
Dhananjay Athreya took the first set at second singes from Nejc Skorjanc, 7-6(6), and the next two went to a seventh game with Skorjanc winning the second, 7-5, and the third in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (4).
At third singles, NJIT's Oscar Callo von Platen
took the first set from Filip Horak, 6-3, but Horak fought back to take the second, 6-2, before falling, 6-4, in the third. At the fourth position, NJIT's Soma Fukuhara won the first set over
Will Lokier, 6-3, but Lokier rebounded to win the second, 6-3, before Fukuhara won the third, 6-4.
