HEMPSTEAD, NY --The Fordham women's basketball team had 10 fewer turnovers than Hofstra in a 69-46 win against the Pride on the road Saturday.

The Fordham defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Saturday's game, forcing 27 Hofstra turnovers while committing 17. Those takeaways turned into 27 points on the offensive end of the floor. Sirtautaite's four steals led the way individually for the Rams.

How It Happened

Fordham relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down four shots to account for 12 of its 16 points in the period.

Fordham built that first quarter lead to 22-9 before going on a 10-0 run starting at the 5:33 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Ornella Niankan, to increase its lead to 32-9. The Pride cut into that lead, but the Rams still enjoyed a 32-10 advantage heading into halftime. Fordham forced eight Hofstra turnovers in the period and turned them into seven points.

Despite a stronger offensive effort by the home side, Fordham continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 9-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Sirtautaite, to expand its lead further to 51-32 with three seconds to go in the third, a score which remained until the end of the third quarter. Fordham played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 19 points in the paint.

Fordham kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Kaila Berry's layup, to grow the lead to 66-43 with 3:37 to go in the contest. The Rams held onto that lead for the rest of the game for the 69-46 win. Fordham took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 12 of its 18 points in the paint.
