FAIRFAX, VA --The Fordham women's basketball team got a 24-point performance from the bench, but fell 73-55 to the George Mason Patriots on the road Wednesday.
Alexis Black led the Rams (6-4, 0-1) with 21 points. Emma Wilson-Saltos tacked on six points and seven rebounds and Maysen Hill helped out with seven points off of the bench. Led by Wilson-Saltos' four offensive rebounds, Fordham did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 18 boards that resulted in six second chance points.
Fordham forced 14 George Mason turnovers, and turned those takeaways into 12 points on the other end of the floor. Anastasija Veljovic led the way individually with two steals.

Fordham started off strong, putting together a 14-13 lead heading into the second quarter. Fordham capitalized on five George Mason turnovers in the period, turning them into five points on the other end of the floor.
The Rams could not maintain their lead in the second quarter and entered halftime trailing 37-29.
Fordham's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Rams faced a 53-39 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Fordham played well near the basket, scoring six of its 10 points in the paint.
Fordham could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 73-55. Fordham took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring eight of its 16 points in the paint.
