Laval, Quebec – It's no surprise that 85% of the world's maple syrup comes from Quebec, Montréal's Province. And the Fordham men's basketball team found itself in a sticky situation today after scoring a season-low 17 points in the first half. Despite a second half comeback attempt, the Rams fell to Colgate University, 72-62, in the championship game of the Northern Classic at the Place Bell Arena.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 6-3 on the year while Colgate improves to 5-4.
Redshirt freshman forward
Abass Bodija led the Rams with a season-high 12 points while grad student guard
Dejour Reaves and senior guard
Christian Henry each added eleven. Junior forward
Rikus Schulte finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
How it Happened
• Fordham trailed by 13 at the half and Colgate scored the first seven points of the second half to extend the lead to 20, to take a 37-17 lead 1:30 into the half.
• A Bodija jumper 28 seconds later halted the Colgate run but the Raiders would take their biggest lead of the day, 40-19, following a three-point play with 17:46 remaining.
• The Rams used a 14-5 run to trim the Colgate lead to 12, 45-33, on an
Akira Jacobs three-point play with 13:50 remaining.
• Later in the half, Fordham went on a 12-1 run, finished off by a Henry jumper in the paint, to cut the deficit to six, 62-56, with 3:03 left but that was as close as the Rams would get
