Rams Down Davidson 3-1 Saturday Afternoon

BRONX, NY --The Fordham volleyball team rallied after losing the first set Saturday afternoon to secure a 3-1 victory (17-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-22) over Davidson at the Rose Hill Gym.

The conference victory improved Fordham's record to 8-15 overall and 2-11 in Atlantic 10 action.

Mila Micunovic finished with 18 kills on the day to lead the Rams offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .326. Defensively, Fordham had three players reach double figures in digs, including Lola Fernandez's 18, Zoe Talabong's 12, and 10 more from Whitney Woodrow. From the front row, Sophia Oliveira contributed eight blocks and Tatum Holderied added eight rejections as well.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Rams found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-17. Fordham trailed by as many as 11 points as Davidson never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up just once before the Wildcats took control.

SET 2 | Fordham tied the match at 1-1 with a 25-21 set-two win. The Rams persevered in a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured six lead changes and was tied 12 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way. Fordham's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking seven Davidson attacks in the frame.

SET 3 | Fordham built on that second-set success with a victory in set number three to open up a lead at two sets to one. The Rams scored first and never trailed in the set to secure a 25-17 victory. Fordham opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 24-14 before closing out the set. The Rams' front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking six Davidson attacks in the period and capitalizing on 12 Davidson attacking errors on the way to victory.

SET 4 | Fordham closed out the match with a 25-22 fourth-set victory, winning their third set in a row. The Rams took the lead for good at 13-12 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Rams took over the lead. Fordham got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked six Davidson attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 11 Davidson attacking errors on the way to victory.

The Maroon and White play their final home game tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. against Davidson live on ESPN+ and SNY. Senior Day festivities from the Rose Hill Gym will begin at approximately 12:50 p.m.
