Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Knocked Off by Hofstra

Bennett Leitner nets Ram goal

Bronx, N.Y. – After a late Saturday night game in St. Louis, the Fordham men's soccer squad returned to the Bronx tonight to face a well-rested Hofstra squad, a team that hadn't played in ten days. And if the fatigue wasn't enough of an obstacle, the Rams had to play a man down for the final 36 minutes due to a red card. That combination did the Rams in as Fordham fell to the Pride, 5-1, at Moglia Stadium.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 7-4-3 while Hofstra improves to 10-4.

How it Happened
•  Fordham took a 1-0 lead when Bennett Leitner collected a loose ball and dribbled across the top of the box before getting off a blast that beat Hofstra keeper Gino Cervoni to the left.

• The Pride responded to tie things up on a penalty kick goal from Daniel Burko in the 43rd minute.

• After Fordham went down a man, the Pride went up 2-1 on Laurie Goddard's 59th-minute goal.

• Hofstra made it a 3-1 game with a 69th-minute goal from Burko, and increased its advantage to 4-1 on a goal in the 78th minute.

Game Notes
• The goal was Leitner's third goal of the season.

• Fordham keeper Tristan Stephani recorded a career-high 13 saves.
