Johnson, who played his freshman year at Duquesne before transferring to UNLV for the next two seasons, averaged no more than 9.5 points per game in any of his first three collegiate campaigns. This season, Johnson ranks third in the A-10 averaging 18.3 points per outing. St. Bonaventure (16-6, 4-5 A-10) snapped a three-game skid in authoritative fashion on Tuesday night, taking down Dayton, 75-53, at home. Prior to that victory over the Flyers, the Bonnies had lost three straight to Duquesne, George Mason and VCU by an average margin of 15 points.
Junior guard Lajae Jones led the way against the Flyers, going 6-of-10 from deep on his way to a game-high 23 points. Melvin Council Jr. added 18 points, seven assists and two steals in the rout of a Dayton team that was ranked as high as no. 22 in the Associated Press poll earlier this season.
