BRONX, N.Y. (Jan. 28, 2025) – After capturing its first Atlantic 10 win of the season over the weekend, the Fordham men's basketball team will return to action on Wednesday night when it faces off against La Salle in Philadelphia.

Tip-off from John Glaser Arena is set for 7 p.m. on Peacock with Jac Collinsworth and Dr. John Giannini on the call.  The contest will also air on 90.7 FM WFUV with Chris Carrino and Chaz McAdams narrating the action.  A simulcast of the radio broadcast will also be available on the WFUV Sports YouTube page.

Fordham (9-11, 1-6 A-10) makes the trip to The City of Brotherly Love after taking down Duquesne, 65-63, on Sunday afternoon inside the Rose Hill Gym.  Down one, 63-62, with less than a minute to play, the Rams received a clutch 3-pointer from Joshua Rivera with 24 seconds remaining to put Fordham in front for good.  The Rams' defense held tough on the final possession, forcing a pair of Duquesne misses before Zach Riley grabbed the game-sealing rebound.

Rivera paced the Rams' offense against the Dukes, scoring a game-high 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting.  The junior forward grabbed six rebounds, five of which came on the offensive glass. Rivera went 5-of-7 from the line and is now 15-of-22 (68.1%) from the stripe in his last three games. Prior to that, the junior from Old Bridge, N.J., had been shooting 43.6% on free throw attempts this season.

Japhet Medor stuffed the stat sheet against Duquesne, finishing with 14 points, seven assists, six rebounds, two steals and just one turnover in 38 minutes.  In his last five games, the graduate student is averaging 20.0 points, 5.4 assists and just one turnover per contest.

Jackie Johnson III, the Atlantic 10's third-leading scorer at 18.6 points per game, finished with 10 points against the Dukes.  He has reached double figures in every game but one this season and has scored 20 or more in four of his last six outings.

Romad Dean turned in yet another efficient performance on Sunday, scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a 2-of-5 effort from beyond the arc.  The junior forward from The Bahamas is the team's leader in 3-point field goal percentage, converting on 40.3% of his tries from distance this season.

Tray Woodall will serve as the Rams' acting head coach for the third consecutive contest.

La Salle (11-9, 3-4 A-10) readies to welcome the Rams after knocking off Rhode Island, 70-64, on Saturday afternoon at Glaser Arena.  The Explorers improved to 8-1 at home on the season thanks in large part to graduate student guard Corey McKeithan, who scored a game-high 20 points.  On the season, McKeithan leads the Explorers with 15.7 points per game.

Freshman sensation Deuce Jones, who has won A-10 Rookie of the Week four times this season, added 13 points and eight rebounds in the win over URI.  Daeshon Shepherd, a senior guard in his fourth year with the Explorers, chipped in an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Fordham and La Salle will meet for the 67th time on Wednesday night, a series that favors the Explorers, 44-22.  La Salle won the last outing between the teams, an 81-76 victory in the Bronx last January.  That decision snapped a five-game winning streak in the series for Fordham, including a triumph in the 2023 Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals that sent the Rams to the conference semifinals for the first time since 2007.

The last time the two teams met in Philly on Jan. 14, 2023, Antrell Charlton hit a midrange jumper as time expired, breaking a 64-64 tie and giving Fordham the victory.
