Piscataway, N.J. – (January 24, 2025) – The Fordham women's swimming & diving team returned to competition on Friday afternoon as they traveled to Rutgers for its first dual meet of the semester.
The Rams fell to the Scarlet Knights by a score of 187-108.
Fordham opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay, where
Leire Martin,
Emma Shaughnessy,
Ainhoa Martin, and
Jessica Zebrowski clocked in at 1:44.56.
The Rams picked up a pair of second place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke from
Emilie Krog (1:55.70) and L. Martin (57.71), respectively, before Zebrowski won the 50 freestyle event in 24.01 seconds.
Therese Enriquez just missed an event win in the 100 freestyle by .01 seconds, taking second in 54.04 seconds.
L. Martin earned another second place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:04.33 with A. Martin taking second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.04.
Zebrowski and Krog also added second place finishes in the 100 butterfly (55.72) and the 200 IM (2:11.40) before the 200 freestyle relay of Zebrowski, Enriquez, L. Martin, and
Allison Kim grabbed second in 1:38.79.
In diving,
Cai Flowers had the Rams' top scores in both the one-meter (234.90) and three-meter (240.53) dive, finishing seventh in both events.
The Rams are right back in the pool on Saturday, January 25
th, as Fordham hosts La Salle for an 11:00 AM meet. It will be Senior Day with that ceremony starting at 10:30 AM.
